There's always a lot of "talk" about all the different diets out there.
Most come and go. But the ones that tend to stay or develop into newer, slightly different diets that are also successful, are the ones that incorporate a Low Glycemic index as part of their core program.
Two popular ones today are the Keto Diet and the Paleo Diet.
These are great weight loss diets because they have in common, the incorporation of a Low Glycemic food choices. It's important to recognize that this is the REAL reason they work.
Keto diets are extreme low glycemic diets and Paleo is also made up of low glycemic foods.
I personally am not in favor of any one "diet" over another because what I AM in Favor of - is what works for YOU. If it's a low glycemic index diet, it doesn't matter if it's Paleo, Keto, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Vegetarian, Vegan, Pescatarian, or any other LOW Glycemic diet. They all work because they are all LOW GLYCEMIC Diets!
Why do Low Glycemic diets work?
It's BASIC - just as ALL of our Universe Principles are founded!
When we eat Low Glycemic foods, our Pancreas secrets only a small amount of insulin to help the muscles take up the carbohydrates that are being released SLOWLY and over a longer period of time, which results in a nice even, ongoing, production of energy for our body.
High Glycemic foods do the opposite. They cause our Pancreas to secrete a large amount of Insulin at once that results in a spike of energy, a fast uptake of the carbohydrates into the muscles and cells, with a resultant DROP in blood sugar that sets off a CRAVING for more high glycemic foods!
If that wasn't enough problem for losing weight, Insulin is responsible for fat storage, and the more insulin our body produces, the more fat our body stores.
High Glycemic foods that stimulate Insulin release also cause the brain to release Dopamine, which simply makes us eat MORE Carbohydrates. It actually results in a dangerous addictive-type behavior!
What ever diet you choose, as long as it's LOW GLYCEMIC, you'll either lose weight or maintain your current weight throughout your life. Know the difference and this way you aren't so tough on yourself wondering which diet you should be on.
When it comes to weight loss, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that it be LOW GLYCEMIC and MATCH what you WANT in your life.
